Itinerary

Friendship Highway
Typical truck traffic on the mudslide-prone Friendship Highway that runs between Kathmandu, Nepal and Lhasa, Tibet

All four of the climbers arrived in Kathmandu on March 27th. The group spent a few days there organizing gear and finalizing their plans.

On March 31st, they began their travels to the Nepal/Tibet border. Once over the border they followed the famous Friendship Highway to Nyalam (12,304 feet) where they spent two nights to better acclimatize. After Nyalam they will drove to the highest elevation of the Friendship Highway—the top of the Tong-la Pass at 16,799 feet. From there they continued on to Tingri (14,404 feet) where they spent two more nights. The team then reached Base Camp at 16,989 feet.

See the North Col Route information for details on the camps they are currently working to establish.
