April 21, 2001Hello. This is Walter Keller of the British American
Expedition just giving you a little update on whats going on. Tim and Mike
are still at Base Camp recuperating from the time they spent up here at Advanced
Base Camp (ABC).Its very early in the morning here and the weather
looks good. Phil and I today, if the weather holds, are going to head back up
to the North Col and spend the night there. And depending on how we feel -- its
23,000 feet up there -- were hoping to go a little bit higher and move a
camp up to about 7,500 meters (24,600 feet). And really well just go from
there and see how we feel. Ideally, wed like to reach 7,900 meters (26,000
feet) but thats very ambitious for this go, so were not sure that
were going to quite get there. But were looking forward to a good
day and a little bit of fun up on the North Col and up on the North Ridge.Well
be out of contact while were above ABC, as are Tim and Mike down at Base
Camp.
