Dispatch Nine -- No yaks, just a headache

April 8, 2001

Hello from Base Camp.

The yaks are late. Walter, Tim, and Mike are going to Intermediate Camp today on the way to Advanced Base Camp. I’m staying behind due to my slow acclimatization and will follow with the yaks tomorrow. I had a crappy headache again last night, and I’m a bit disappointed. But there is no point in rushing it. Hopefully, I’ll be ready to go tomorrow with the yaks.
